Modesty is always in style

Guard your body and shield your heart
Because anyone can just take it apart.
Modesty is always and forever will be in style. Modesty is God's trend. We must protect and clothe our bodies with grace and beauty. This does not mean 'frumpiness' or dressing like grandmother. In this time and generation, it is hard to guard our bodies, especially for us girls. Everywhere and everything promotes something sexual; low-cut shirts, incredibly short skirts, etc. Whenever I see a girl dressed imodestly,I automaticly say, "That girl's just asking for it." But then yet again, maybe that girl was trying to look cute and just wanted to turn heads. Us girls always want to look pretty and that's not a bad thing. How we dress matters. It sends a message to the world on who we are.

Our clothes don't fully define us who we are- they tell the world that we are either guarding our bodies and our hearts or we're asking anybody to take advantage. For anybody. You can still look pretty and cute with clothes covering your body. For example, that picture that I uploaded above. Look at her. Her outfit is modest and it's cute. Shopping for modesty is not that easy, however especially in this generation. It just takes alittle more effort but you'll thank yourself later when REAL guys give your heart a chance and you don't allow the guys who are not your husband stare at the parts of your body. We must treat our bodies as a temple of God.

Crystalina Evert, my favorite chastity speaker said," Don't walk around sending the message that your body is the best part of you-implying that your heart, mind, and soul aren't so important. Instead, say with modesty, "I'm worth waiting to see." I know it's hard to dress modestly.(especially during the summer when it's hot) I struggle just like anyone else. One time, my highschool had a Sadie Hawkins dance and my dress was so unbelievably low-cut(I don't know what the heck I was thinking and when I look back, I can't believe my mom let me buy it!) that we had to buy a shawl for it so it can look like I tried to be modest. Well, during the dance my shawl was unraveling and my guyfriend Joe, actually came up to me and told me that my dress was too revealing! Imagine how he was feeling, me tempting him to lust over my body just because I wanted to look pretty. I felt so terrible, but I'm glad Joe told me so. Since that day, I make an extra effort to shop for modesty. Just because you're not wearing a tight shirt or a short skirt doesn't mean guys are not going to pay attention to you. Guys who pay attention to girls who dress trashy, are just paying attention to her body. By the end of the day, dressing inmodestly does not benefit you in any way. So, how do guys dress imodestly? Here are my views:

Baggy pants and flashing the boxers. To me, that is totally unflattering. It's disgusting! Since when has flashing boxers and pulling up your pants been attractive? And believe it or not, a guy walking around with no shirt on for no apparent reason is also immodest. Hard to believe ? Thanks to this world, we've become immuned to it. But admit it girls, when we see a guy without a shirt on just walking around, you tend to look right? That makes girls lust. Even if it's just a glance.
Modesty is not only in clothing but, in dancing as well. Bumping/grinding and all that nonsense invites the opposite sex to your body, and not to your heart. So, if you really want respect, look the part.

It is very hard trying to dress the right way and still look cute. Especially if you have a bigger chest(me). But if I wear something to low, I find I'm uneasy and are always trying to cover myself. It's nice to know someone feels the same way as I do about modesty.

I tend to dress mostly modestly. I don't wear skirts a whole lot...I'm just not that girly...I love my skinny jeans and my thrift store jeans...I have one pair with a huge hole...it's in the knee so it's not SO bad... I love t-shirts and If something is too small, I feel akward because it's a little revealing...I only keep it because I love it...Like shirts, I have one that says ROCK and have a huge collage of rock things; Guitars, Drums, Mics, ect. I do TRY to dress modestly...I'm actually wearing a vest today...I love my vests and suspenders. My dresses aren't really bad...nothing's short... I do have a T-shirt dress, but I have leggings for it.

I wear shorts more than anything, living in FL and all, but I am OBSESSED with my bermuda shorts. They're SO awesome!

I have a friend who we ask her from time to time..if she painted on those jeans. Lately, though, after some boy troubles she's been dressing much more appropriately.

Thanks so much for your comment.

Well, global warming can have a factor in what you wear...unfortunately, & then you have some stuck in a rut thinking its got to be THE LOOK to have.

I can't dress the way my grammy wants me to dress though...she only wants clothes that swallow me..and thats just too hard for me to do all the time.

I know really.. It's like people are just dressing that way because they have to.. And when they do, it's not what they want!!! -_- It's all a fad, and then they move on. It's actually amusing.. Nice blog. =P

i love this! i love your perspective on clothing- the fact that what you wear shouldnt matter more than whats on the inside. i am a strong believer in God, and I want myself to be a model of His greatness. you seem to be an amazing role model for people who want answers to questions asked by teens. its pretty wise and amazing. thanks for commenting- and hit me back!

i so totally agree with you. modesty just takes a little tiny bit more effort. But like if i'm not modest, it feels way too revealing. UGH. Anyways, awesomely awesome post!

This is probably the best post I have ever read. It means so much and sticks with you. I think girls that don't dress "modest" are just beggin for attention. They think its the only way and the are self-concious about their personality. And thats a hard thing to deal with, I went through that stage once but when I finally snapped out of it, it felt refreshing and so much better.

That part about the sadie Hawkins dance, that must have felt horrible. I'm really sorry for you. But maybe that was for the best. You know, God's way of telling you he thinks you should dress less reavealing. That you have the personality, you don't need to just show off your body. He only said it to you so you could say it to us, thats really special, and you know just by that that God is watching out for you.

So thank you so much for this post. When I go school clothes shopping, I'm shopping for personality and modesty. This post meant a lot to me. Thanks again! ♥
